Let me sing my song for you
Words that glow like golden meteors
Falling and scattering around your fingertips

Let me sing my song for you
Heavenly notes that rush together like a clear, unfurling river
Twisting around your throat, chest, and stomach

Let me sing my song for you
Whispering melodies of the sweetest winds
Touching your ear and tousling your hair

Let me sing my song for you
Dreamy composition that sighs into color
Painting your red mouth in sweet, chaste kiss

Let me sing my song for you
Choir sung that brings forth the roses and vines
Tracing the bones of your wrists, the flesh of your palms

Let me sing my song for you
Crooning a lullaby to spring forth the deepest fields
Brushing your knees and worshipping your feet

Let me sing my song for you
Uttering an air to breathe in the atmosphere
Tasting your scent, drinking your tongue

Let me sing my song for you
Rhyming poetically the child's tale
Outlining the cheek and drawing the jaw

Let me sing my song for you
Numbering the crescendo in rise of the earth's gasp
Sharpening angles of the shoulder blades

Let me sing my song for you
Humming a tune to enlighten the stars
Deep into your eyes and dripping down your nose

Let me sing my song for you
Scripting the track between heat and shadow
Lingering on the strength of your arms

Let me sing my song for you
Writing the ballad to bewitch the moon's rays
Kissing your hips with wandering fingers on your waist

Let me sing my song for you
Taking in the refrain to kindle the candle's passion
Warming your back and the kind hollows

Let me sing my song for you
Serenading a solo to wrap you in night's gossamer robe
Caught around your ankles, the creases of your elbows

Let me sing my song for you
Chanting an incantation to lull you under deepest blue's sea
Up to your calves and caressing your thighs

Let me sing my song for you
Murmuring a hymn to invoke the spirits
Trailing your neck down to your shoulders

Let me sing my song for you
Repeating the beats that drum up the mountains
Finding the muscles and revering the scars

Let me sing my song for you
Resounding the masque to awaken the soul
Hanging on bodily grace and poise of thought

Let me sing my song for you
Intoning a lyric to chase away light
Enveloping you in darkness, bare arms, and in my heart
I wrote this when I was listening to a song that had been sung in the Moulin Rouge movie...I think it's called "Your Song" or something. Ewan McGregor sings it to Nicole Kidman and she falls for him while thinking he's the duke.

Anyway, listened to the song and the line "Let Me Sing My Song For You" popped up into my head. Then I started pondering about songs and lyrics and I was staring out of my window at home and I realized that most religious songs deal with nature or scenes from nature - relating God to the natural world. Well, I'm no believer in God, but I appreciated the thought of relating song to nature. Plus it deals a lot with worshipping the person you love, whomever they may be. A kind of religious worhsip that inspires one to awe...or at least that's what I thought. So I ran with all of these ideas...This is what came out at the finish line.
